Growing up, the only hashbrown I knew was the McDonald’s hashbrown. Every Saturday morning, I used to ask my mom to take me to McDonald’s to get a hashbrown and a McGriddle. As I grew up, I veered away from McDonald’s but my love for hash browns has remained.  Trader Joe’s hash browns give me that same feeling from back in my younger days.

Preparation

When preparing them you have two options. Either in the oven or on the stovetop.

In The Oven:Preheat your oven to 400°F. Arrange frozen patties on an ungreased pan. Bake for about 30 minutes, or until golden brown. Turn after around the halfway point if you want consistent browning on both sides. You will season to taste and serve.

On The Stovetop:Heat 3 tablespoons of oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry a single layer of frozen potatoes for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Turn as needed for even heating. Drain on a paper towel or anything similar. Season to taste and serve. These hash browns due tend to come out greasy. So, a recommendation would be to pat them dry before serving them.

First Ideas

For starters, this is a quick and easy meal. They do not require much, and you can be done in a hurry for those who have a busy schedule such as me. A lot of cooking tasks are tedious and by the time you finish cooking, you do not have time to thoroughly enjoy the meal that you prepared. This is not the case when it comes to Trader Joe’s hash browns. This is the perfect meal to make when you are in a rush and need to pull out a quick little meal that is gratifying.

You can cook these and know that you are not swapping taste for convenience.  Trader Joe’s hash browns are perfect for those who are on the move. If you cook them correctly, when you are finished with them, they come out golden brown. Another plus outside of time is their combability with other breakfast foods. You can count on them to pair well with other foods such as bacon, eggs, toast, and more. You will know when they are finished by the aroma that enters your nostrils. The smell quickly fills the kitchen, and you are eager to bite into them and see just how good that crunch is.

Taste

When you bite into them, the firm potato flavor smacks you right in the mouth. Unlike some other hash browns that may taste like the refrigerator or like the cold, the flavor is front and center when it comes to Trader Joe’s hash browns. The only negative I can think of when it comes to these hash browns is how tricky it can be to get them as firm as possible. However, they are still a wonderful option when it comes to preparing breakfast and I would pick them to start my day, time and time again.
