What is Uber Comfort?

It is a new feature added to the Uber app on 9th July 2019 to provide a little extra whilst on the move that is an option for a luxury trip to its customers. However, it offers the riders the following preferences:

Quiet Mode- It gives an option to the riders for choosing a preferred mode of conversation with the driver at its comfort. Such modes can be verbal interaction or no interaction at all or through text messages. Temperature Control- It gives the rider an option to control the vehicle temperature with just one tap on the app to set the desired level of temperature at its convenience. Extended pickup times- It is an extra paid wait time option in the app which gives the rider to extend the pickup time at its convenience which can be up to 10 minutes. A driver may wait for a maximum of 2 minutes without the extra pay however, extra consideration is to be paid for extending such wait time.

Eligibility for the Uber Comfort drivers:

Following are the criteria, to receive trip requests with Uber Comfort:

Drivers have a minimum rating of 4. 85. Drivers who have completed at least 100 trips. Drivers who drive eligible model vehicles.

 Cars Eligible for Uber Comfort:

Spacious and luxurious cars are offered. Vehicle models should not be older than 5 years generally, newer cars or cars which are 2 years old are accepted. It should be a four-passenger seater vehicle plus the driver. Vehicles which are not salvaged with no cosmetic damage are eligible for Uber Comfort. Vehicles that provide extra leg and headroom and it is clean on the inside and outside.

Availability of Uber Comfort Cars:

Uber Comfort Cars are not available everywhere, it is available in many cities across the United States and Canada such as:

AtlantaChicagoWashington, DCLos AngelesNashvillePortlandSan Francisco

It is available across the states of Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, and many other cities as well. However, it is not available in India.

How to opt for the Uber Comfort option in the app?

Book the ride in the appThen there will be a Ride Preference option where there will be a temperature and conversation section. By choosing the temperature setting like cool, warm, or no preference you can set the desired temperature. There will be a section for Conversation which is a quiet ride feature where you can select options like “happy to chat”, “quiet preferred”, or “no preference”.

Is Uber Comfort Worth the price demanded?

Well, booking a luxury car with experienced drivers offers a standard trip by giving a premium feel to the riders without having to own the costly vehicles themselves. Therefore the charges paid by the riders are worth it. 

However, it can only be afforded by a certain class of customers who do not mind paying extra charges for a luxurious ride. It ultimately depends on personal needs, preferences, and pockets.
