Duguet said the developer and publisher “moved Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six Quarantine to 2021-22 to leverage their full potential” after those challenges arose.

The Far Cry Twitter account posted a separate update, saying the delay means developers can continue working safely from home and make Far Cry 6 “the game you want it to be.”

The company’s fiscal year begins in April 2021 and ends in March 2022. However, neither Duguet nor Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot indicated when in that period they expect either game to release.

We reached out to Ubisoft to clarify if Far Cry 6 and Rainbow Six: Quarantine would still release on current-gen systems, the PS4 and Xbox One, in light of the delay. As of this writing, we have confirmed that Far Cry 6 will still release for the PS4 and Xbox One, though we are still awaiting confirmation regarding Rainbow Six: Quarantine. We will update this story when we receive further information.

Far Cry 6 was originally scheduled for a February 18 release on current- and next-gen consoles, minus the Switch. Rainbow Six Siege only had a tentative 2020 release date and was one of our top anticipated FPS games of 2020.
