Anisotropic is really trying to nail the game mechanics and style of the legendary platformer. His dedication to the franchise can be seen in the comments of his videos as he is very receptive to feedback from fans and subscribers alike.

Crash Bandicoot is a platformer that was first released on the original PlayStation in 1996 selling almost 7 million units globally. It was an instant hit with a wacky cast of characters, enjoyable story, solid gameplay, and unforgettable soundtrack. Naughty Dog later came out with Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped, and Crash Team Racing.

All of the aforementioned are on the US Top Sellers of 2014 PlayStation Store Classics list with Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped ranking second, third, and fourth respectively. Crash Team Racing came in 7th on that list (playstation.com). The Crash Trilogy also made the Top 10 Selling Sony games of all time (vgchartz.com).

Other developers like Radical Games (the makers of Prototype) and Traveller’s Tales Oxford Studio (responsible for the Lego games) took on the series after Naughty Dog to make sequels like Crash of the Titans and the most recent Crash Bandicoot Nitro Kart 2 which was released in May 2010.

Fans of the series stay hopeful that some developer will take over the Crash Bandicoot franchise and, while not what was expected, this might be what fans are looking for.
